Summer is flying by and we’ve been busy as a bee!

Literally -we have gone from 1 bee yard with 3 hives to 3 yards and 14 hives! Our largest yard is located at the Just Food Farm in Blackburn Hamlet. The honey produced from these hives will be as local as you can get to Ottawa and we are now officially part of Savour Ottawa.

Our honey and honey-related products are available for purchase starting in September. We sell out quickly so if you would like to reserve a jar please email Ron at ron(at)radicalhomestead(dot)ca.

Speaking of Ron, he has been attending an advanced beekeeping mentorship program down in the Kawarthas and has taken on a few apprentices of his own at the Just Food Farm site. Ron will be offering official beekeeping courses starting in spring 2015 (more on that in an upcoming newsletter).

In other news, Corrie has been experimenting with new ferments, including pickles, Jun, ginger beer, and much more. Our gardens are doing spectacular and we are grateful for the consistent rain we have been getting. We are also working on a new logo and website (stay tuned!).

It will be informative, hands on, practical, and fun. Discover how simple the ancient art and science of fermentation actually is and how you can integrate fermented foods into your daily life.
