Radical Homestead Fermented Drinks Kanji, Smreka, and Tepache

For the lovers of fizz, soda addicts, probiotic seekers, and those who just like to experiment – this workshop is for you!

There is an exciting array of beneficial and delicious fermented drinks to support your gut health and quench your thirst at the same time. We deliver the information and skills in a clear, step-by-step manner so you go home comfortable and confident to make your own fermented creations. In this workshop we will cover:

  • Benefits of fermented drinks.
  • Basic “rules” of fermentation.
  • Step by step demonstrations and instructions for each beverage type.
  • Fermentation vessels and the pros and cons of each.
  • Common mistakes, how to prevent them, and how to fix them.
  • Fun fermenting facts!

Just in time for summer, we will demonstrate how to make several tasty probiotic rich drinks including:

  • Kombucha
  • Jun
  • Water Kefir
  • Tepache
  • Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic)
  • Kanji
  • Smreka
  • Beet Kvass

This special workshop runs on June 18, from 1-4 pm in the east end of Ottawa (near the Rideau Tennis Club), accessible through public transportation. You will receive the address once your register.

Cost

$65.  You will leave with a kombucha or jun starter (your choice), water kefir grains, and detailed instructions for making each beverage. There will be an opportunity to sample some of these delicious drinks! We also offer online support after the workshop. Space for this workshop will fill up fast!

About your Teacher:

I am a certified Herbalist and soon to be Certified Holistic Nutritionist. My passion for all things food led me down the path of fermentation. I learned how to ferment by going to workshops and through years of experience and experimentation. I’ve made every mistake and have tried a variety of techniques that I am eager to share with you! Most recently, I was accepted into a coveted mentorship program with fermented food guru Sandor Katz (Sandorkraut)! I am passionate about giving people the information and skills so they can take control of their health and nutrition – simply and effectively.

Should you need to cancel your workshop reservation for any reason, you must do so at least 7 days before the day of the workshop to receive a full refund minus $5 for administration fees (Paypal charges). Any reservations cancelled within 7 days will not be eligible for a refund. To cancel, please contact us.
